El primer Moto Club
Bajo el liderazgo del visionario primer presidente, un tal George Eller, el Yonkers Bicycle Club se transformó en el club de la motocicleta de Yonkers en 1903. El club patrocinó una carrera de resistencia paraante la Federación de Motociclistas Internacional (FIM) formada un año después, en 1904, unos 23 años antes del nacimiento de la American Motorcycle Association (AMA) en 1927.
El YMC fue fletado por la AMA como su miembro número 6, es es de allí que se conoció formalmente. Más tarde durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, los miembros del club sirvieron como mensajeros de la Defensa Civil de la ciudad de Yonkers, como parte de una larga tradición de servicio a la comunidad en la historia del club. Es compatible con el trabajo del Centro de Enriquecimiento de Yonkers, un centro que atiende a niños con discapacidad, y presta ayuda de recuperazción médica a los motociclistas lesionados en accidentes.
En el Rally Sturgis del 2007, el Yonkers MC tomó fama en la exposición del Museo de Clubes de Motociclismo con una muestra fotográfica de 100 años de historia de dos ruedas.
The first MC
Under the apparently far-seeing leadership of its first president, one George Eller, the Yonkers Bicycle Club morphed into the Yonkers Motorcycle Club. The club had already sponsored an endurance run before the Federation of International Motorcyclists (FIM) was formed a year later in 1904, some 23 years before the founding of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) in 1927.
In fact, the YMC was chartered by the AMA as its No. 6 member, so it was there when it all began. Later on during World War II, club members served as Civil Defense messengers for the city of Yonkers, a long-standing tradition of community service in the club’s history. It supports the work of the Yonkers Enrichment Center, a facility that cares for handicapped children, and comes to the aid of injured motorcyclists, recently donating an electric chair to a disabled rider.
At the 2007 Sturgis Rally the Yonkers MC was spotlighted at the Sturgis Museum exhibit of famous motorcycle clubs with a photographic display of 100 years of two-wheeling history.

Santos Dumont:
El primero en volar
En los Estados Unidos, a todo escolar se le enseña que los hermanos Wright fueron los primeros hombres para volar. En Brasil, todo el mundo sabe que eso está mal: el padre de vuelo es Alberto Santos-Dumont.
Un lunes hace 109 años, Santos-Dumont desató una discusión que aún continúa cuando lanzó, voló y aterrizó un biplano cuadrado bautizado "14 bis" por encima de un campo en Francia. En Brasil, donde él es un héroe nacional, todo el mundo cree apasionadamente que su vuelo fue el primero.
"La imagen de los hermanos Wright como los primeros en volar ha dado la vuelta al mundo, pero no estaba documentado", dice Henrique Lins de Barros, un historiador de vuelo y autor del libro, "Santos-Dumont y la invención de Vuelo": "El 14 bis de Santos-Dumont logró realizar un vuelo completo, despegue, vuelo y aterrizaje, sin ayuda externa. Los hermanos Wright no lo hicieron. Santos-Dumont fue el primer hombre en volar ".

In the United States, every schoolboy learn that the Wright Brothers were the first men to fly. In Brazil, everyone knows that's wrong – the father of flight is Alberto Santos-Dumont.
One hundred years ago Monday, Santos-Dumont set off an argument that still rages when he launched, flew, and landed a boxy biplane christened "14bis" above a field in France. In Brazil, where he is a national hero, everyone passionately believes that his flight was the first.
"The image of the Wright Brothers as the first people to fly has gone around the world, but it wasn't documented," says Henrique Lins de Barros, a flight historian and author of the book, "Santos-Dumont and the Invention of Flight": "Santos-Dumont's '14bis' managed to make a complete flight, taking off, flying, and landing without external assistance. The Wright Brothers didn't. Nationalism aside, I am a researcher and there is no controversy – Santos-Dumont was the first man to fly."
